🎃 Happy Halloween, Students! 🎃 As you get ready for a night of fun and frights, here are some tips to ensure you stay safe: -Travel in Groups: There’s safety in numbers. Stick with your friends and look out for each other. -Stay Visible: Wear bright costumes or add reflective tape to your outfit. Carry a flashlight to help you see and be seen. -Check Your Treats: Before diving into your candy haul, make sure to inspect all treats for any signs of tampering. -Respect Others: Be mindful of your neighbors and their property. Not everyone celebrates Halloween, so be courteous. -Stay on the Path: Stick to well-lit streets and avoid shortcuts through alleys or unlit areas. -Emergency Contacts: Have a plan and know how to reach your friends or family if you get separated. -Have a spooktacular time, but remember, safety first! 🕸️👻 #HalloweenSafety #StaySafe #HappyHalloween

This week, we highlight the value of good character and its essential role in building strong communities that value positive, healthy relationships and respectful behavior. We celebrate young people who are role models of good character in their communities and support the parents and educators who teach our young people to be trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, and good citizens.

Chart your course to the school cafeteria to celebrate National School Lunch Week! The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day. President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and its impact inside and outside the classroom. GCS students are invited to eat school meals free of charge through our participation in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP).

Dear Smoot Families, It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of a beloved staff member and coach, Mr. Mark Gray. Mr. Gray was a cherished part of our school community, known for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering support for our students. We understand this news may be difficult for many and to support our community, counselors are available on-site at all wester greenbrier schools (high school and each elementary included). They are here to provide emotional support and help anyone who may need assistance coping with this loss. We encourage you to talk with your children and remind them it is ok to grieve and seek support. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gray Family and all those who were touched by his presence. Sincerely, Molly Judy-Principal
